ABC Animal Sanctuary
Alexandra Bastedo has run an animal sanctuary for the last 30 years. Her first animal rescue was a donkey, and her sanctuary is now home to over 150 creatures, including donkeys, ponies, miniature Shetlands, cats, poultry, sheep and pigs. Initially set up as a vehicle for Never The Bride but then something wonderful happened: After hearing Never The Bride's recording of The Living Tree, the fabulous Dame Shirley Bassey fell in love with their song. It was suggested that she record it with Lock Stock and Barrel Records and the rest is history. They also recorded and produced her Get the Party Started album, which debuted at number 6 in the UK album charts. Her single The Living Tree was a UK top 40 hit.
